gposil just uploaded new dpup beta for testing based on debian squeeze repositories but with even newer core backend then debian’s, and 2.6.30.5 kernel, go download here and remember to use wget command so your download doesn’t break (wget -t0 -c ). December 30th, 2009From time to time I like to crawl wordpress theme sites and see what they have to offer, there are tons of wp themes out there, even I don’t really change them much, in fact I used iNove theme from since I installed this blog and haven’t changed it because it looks clean but also cool and slick.
Well, I just downloaded this vistered little theme from templatebrowser.com and I love it! Yeah it’s maybe too fancy but I’ll be using it for a while now. Theme can be downloaded here

Fujitsu Siemens laptop
December 20th, 2009Hey, people, what’s up? I didn’t have good connection these days, today seems better, hope it lasts… Past two days we had snow here in Podgorica which is very rare since we have very warm climate. It doesn’t liner much today it’s already almost melted. 
Anyway, I did some shopping, found an old laptop selling cheap on local forums, it misses couple of keyboard buttons and battery doesn’t work but other then that seems good so far…
It’s Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D CY 23, these are some specs:
CPU: Intel III Coppermine @ 996 Mhz
RAM: 335 MB
HD: Toshiba 20 GB
CD-RW/DVD Combo drive
2xUSB 1.1
I’ve installed ttuuxxx’s 2.14X puppy on it, I made 512 MB swap partition and about 8 GB ext2 and did a frugal install. Almost everythin worked out-of-box, I had to do some adjustments for touchpad tap but it’s just minor change in xorg.conf and oh yes I needed pgprs pet for my 3G modem. I made a pinky girly desktop ’cause my mom will be using it. (She used puppy linux all the time on my desktop PC

November 11th, 2009Regarding my previous post: I mentioned that wordpress needs separate database for every install, well found out that you can use same db for more wp installs by changing db prefix in wp-config.php but you still do need to install in different locations.
BUT! While googling I also ran into this wordpress-mu project (yes, mu stands for multi-user) which is also free software by WP which is used to manage multiple blogs!
Testing b2evolution
November 8th, 2009I installed growler’s php/mysql package for using with hiawatha on dpup, had to edit some conf files since dpup now uses different doc dir and user but it works good now. Then I grabbed b2evolution to test it locally.
I must tell it’s very complex, gets some time to figure out how to do what, really seems like it’s complete blogging engine with possibility to add multiple users and blogs. Install page/installer didn’t say which permissions which dir needs so I had few errors configuring it, I guess you need to read full online manual first.

This blog that I’m currently using here is WordPress if you haven’t noticed and it’s way easier to use and install (WP’s “famous 5 min. install” ) so if you want a single-user blog for yourself I really recommend it. WordPress actually does support multiple users but not multiple blogs on same install so you need separate directory/database for each blog.
Now off to examine theme templates on b2evo.
George Carlin – Awesome comedian
November 4th, 2009Well, few days ago a friend of mine came and said he brought some comedian’s show video. I thought oh man, another 20 yo holywood actor that has his show where he embarrassing himself and his guests to make other people laugh.
But no it was an old grey-haired guy in old-fashioned sweater doing stand-up show. Show was happening in some theatre full of people with gloomy light, he was the only person on stage and only object on stage was a little table with a glass of water for him.
His name was George Carlin (born 1937, died 2008). He was type of comedian who can take little everyday life things and make them hillarious with his gestures, face expressions and style of narrating.
He wasn’t afraid of making fun of some taboo topics either like politics or religion, etc…
